I am a fifth-generation South Dakotan, raised in the small towns of Wessington Springs and Kimball.
Since earning a journalism degree from South Dakota State University, my career has included reporting and editing jobs at newspapers in Worthington, Minn., and Mitchell, S.D. I currently work as an enterprise reporter for the Rapid City (S.D.) Journal.
Additionally, I have served as the South Dakota researcher for the Center for Public Integrity’s State Integrity Investigation and have contributed travel stories and blog posts to SouthDakota.com. I am a periodic guest on the “Political Junkies” segment of South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s “In the Moment” radio show, and I have been a guest on SDPB’s “South Dakota Focus” television show.
My first book, “Calvin Coolidge in the Black Hills,” was published May 22, 2017, by The History Press.
I live in Rapid City with my wife, Shelly, and our children, Kaylie and Lincoln.
